  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup water or chicken broth
  • Optional garnishes: chopped cilantro, shredded cheese, sour cream


  1. In a large pot, cook the ground turkey over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the onions, green pepper, and garlic to the pot and cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, black beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper, and water or broth.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with cilantro, cheese, and sour cream if desired.
